John also served as a Real Estate Analyst with the Office of Business and Economic Development in Washington DC, working with CDC’s that were engaged in neighborhood commercial revitalization projects along H Street (H Street CDC), 14th and U Street (People’s Involvement Corporation), and MLK Blvd. (Anacostia Economic Development Corporation). John has more than 30 years of community economic development experience.
Currently John serves as President/Executive Director of the Holy Nativity/St. John's Development Corporation, a non-profit community development corporation working in Central Park Heights of Baltimore, Maryland. John is a member of the Board of Directors for the St. Ambrose Housing Aid Services and a member of the African Descent Lutherans Association, a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He is also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, were he serves as the Co-Chair of the Community Engagement Committee.

John Henderson is a Community Economic Development Specialist whose areas of expertise are real estate development financing, non-profit management, neighborhood/commercial revitalization, work force development training, and community/resident engagement. John retired from the Dept of Housing and Urban Development where he managed several public housing authorities HOPE VI and Mixed-Finance real estate development projects. Prior to HUD, John served at the Maryland Dept of Social Services/Adult Protective Services, where he served as a Case Manager/Project Coordinator for the Homeless and Environmental Services Unit, working with the ex-offender population who were returning back to the community.
